Coaching

Helensburgh AAC offers coaching in all running (track, road and cross country), throwing and long jump.  Juniors may specialise in certain disciplines although we do encourage the juniors, especially the younger ones, to try a variety of events.

At present the Club does not provide coaching in hammer and pole vault.  We are also limited in the coaching we can give in high jump, triple jump and discus.

The Juniors Coaches, Wilson Hamilton, Christopher Colmer, Sybil Kennedy, Paula McAllister and Elaine Hamilton have completed various UKA Level Event Coaching Courses and the Safeguarding and Protecting Children Course.

Events/Competitions

Helensburgh AAC Juniors currently compete in the following:

SUMMER – Central and South Scotland Athletics League (track and field)

WINTER – Scottish Athletics Indoor League and various Cross Country events

All juniors have the opportunity, and are encouraged, to compete in the various County, District and National cross country and track and field events that take place throughout the year.

Helensburgh AAC also holds an annual Track and Field Championships (for juniors and seniors) which are held in conjunction with Clydesdale Harriers and West Dunbartonshire Athletic Clubs and are part of the Local Area Partnership Championships.
