Club Training Times

Dear Member

The Committee have noticed that groups of runners have been meeting at various times earlier than 7.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays over recent weeks. We (‘the Committee’) understand the reasons for this but it has led to fragmentation and confusion amonst some. We particularly want to avoid new members turning up at 7.30pm to find there is nobody of a similar standard to run with. This was the reason for a survey of preferences on the noticeboard recently for training on Thursdays.

We had a long discussion of the issue at the Committee meeting on Wednesday 21 April. The result is that there will be NO CHANGE to the timing of Tuesday night training ie it will remain at 7.30pm. The survey revealed more votes for 6.30pm (13 votes) than 7.00pm (8 votes) and 7.30pm (7 votes) so we propose a COMPROMISE to shift training to 7.00pm on Thursday nights commencing 29th April. The Committee are mindful that groups of members have a degree of autonomy over this issue but we want to preserve a club ethos.

Feel free to lobby Committee members further about this issue as we are happy to review things at further Committee meetings. Yours sincerelyPaul Thompson, Vice President.
